The TY Danjuma Foundation has commissioned the Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital in Takum, Taraba state. In line with its vision of providing access to quality and affordable healthcare to people in Nigeria, the Foundation has expanded its Medical Centre in Takum to include a specialised trailblazing eye hospital. The new facility is aptly named the Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital, after the wife of our Founder and Chairman Emeritus, who exemplifies love and selfless service to humanity.
The hospital was officially commissioned by His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefus, the Executive Governor of Taraba State. The ceremony was attended by the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Foundation, Lt. Gen. TY Danjuma(Rtd), GCON, along with government dignitaries, stakeholders in the health sector and traditional rulers.
There was consensus among speakers at the event that limited access to quality and affordable eyecare continue to hinder many people across Nigeria from seeking solutions to their eye problems. Consequently, many persons have become blind due to causes that are avoidable, while many more are forced to endure a declined quality of life due to visual impairments.
The Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital is therefore a beacon of hope for eye patients in and beyond Takum. The hospital aims to address the pressing need for quality eyecare services in underserved communities, where preventable blindness and visual impairments disproportionately affect the population. The hospital will provide services that aim to prevent, diagnose, and treat eye ailments.
To ensure the Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital meets international standards and delivers high-quality care, the TY Foundation spared no effort in acquiring the best available equipment from leading ophthalmic equipment manufacturers. The incorporation of cutting-edge technology in the setting up of the facility, as well as advanced diagnostic tools and state-of-the-art surgical equipment, is pivotal in guaranteeing precise and effective treatment of every patient that will be attended to at the facility.
