About TY Danjuma Foundation Medical Centre

The TY Danjuma Foundation Medical Centre comprises of the Rufkatu Danjuma Medical Center (RDM), Kuru Danjuma Hospital for Children (KDHC), and Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital (DDEH). They are specialized medical facilities that are providing advanced maternal, new-born, and childcare to the most vulnerable people in Takum, Taraba State, and in surrounding areas, thereby improving maternal and infant morbidity and mortality indices in this part of the country. These facilities are projects of the TY Danjuma Foundation and are managed and operated by Development Africa.

Rufkatu Danjuma Maternity (RDM)

The project commenced on October 24, 2016, and is situated on a 6-hectre land provided by the Taraba State Government, located opposite Government Day Secondary School along Takum-Lupwe road.

The primary aim of the RDM is to provide enhanced service delivery of maternal and perinatal healthcare to Takum Local Government and surrounding communities. The Centre will strengthen already existing health systems within the Local Government and the state as a whole by providing the following services; maternal and child care, family planning, control of sexually transmitted infections, and management of common diseases in adults and children. In addition, the RDM boasts of a 24-hour ambulance service.

The Center has residential quarters for doctors and nurses to ensure the availability of health personnel at the Center 24 hours a day. It also has a solar system to provide power backup to RDM. The facility also boasts an industrial borehole, accompanied by a water treatment facility.

This project not only contributes to addressing the challenges of maternal and child mortality and morbidity in and around Takum, but also impacting positively on the socio economic situation of the people in Takum by providing an estimated 100 direct job opportunities.

Kuru Danjuma Hospital for Children (KDHC)

In line with our vision of providing access to quality and affordable healthcare, the TY Danjuma Foundation expanded its hospital complex in Takum to include a specialised trailblazing pediatric facility. The children hospital is named Kuru Danjuma Hospital for Children (KDHC), after the father of our founder and chairman, who exemplified love and selfless service to humanity.

The expansion of the hospital complex in Takum commenced in November 2019 and is co-located with the Rufkatu Danjuma Maternity (RDM). The hospital opened its doors on March 1, 2021 to provide quality and affordable neonatal and pediatric health care services to the people of Takum, Taraba state and its environs.

The primary aim of the KDHC is to lead, define and provide affordable world-class pediatric healthcare services centered on health promotion, disease prevention and quality treatment to ensure a healthy child. Its co-location with the RDM facilitates synergy and encourages efficient transfer from neonatal to pediatric care. This promotes confidence on the part of mothers and families who can return to the same location for sustained care throughout the vulnerable years of a child’s development.

The children’s hospital has residential quarters for doctors and nurses to ensure the availability of health personnel 24 hours a day. It also has a conducive playing ground for children. In addition, it has a solar system for uninterrupted power supply, a motorised borehole connected to a water treatment facility, a modern incinerator for disposal of medical waste and boasts of a 24-hour ambulance service.

The establishment of the Kuru Danjuma Hospital for Children in addition to the Rufkatu Danjuma Maternity is in sync with the Foundation’s signature programme on maternal and child health-“Healthy Mother Healthy Child”-aimed at supporting the implementation of evidence-based, innovative, high-quality and sustainable interventions that ensure every mother can experience a healthy pregnancy and childbirth; and every child can thrive and realise their full potential.

Beyond contributing to addressing the challenges of maternal and child health in and around Takum, the Kuru Danjuma Hospital for Children will also positively impact the social economic status of the communities in the area by providing a variety of job opportunities.

Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital (DDEH)

In line with our vision of providing access to quality and affordable healthcare to people in Nigeria, the TY Danjuma Foundation Medical Centre was expanded in Takum to include a specialised trailblazing eye hospital. The eye hospital named the Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital (DDEH), after the wife of our Founder and Chairman Emeritus, who exemplifies love and selfless service to humanity.

Limited access to quality and affordable eyecare has hindered many people in Nigeria from seeking solutions to their eye problems. Consequently, many persons have become blind due to causes that are avoidable, while many more are forced to endure a decline in their quality of life due to visual impairment.

The Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital (DDEH) is a beacon of hope for eye patients in and beyond Takum. The hospital aims to address the pressing need for eyecare services in
underserved communities, where preventable blindness and visual impairments disproportionately affect the population. The DDEH will provide services that aim to
prevent, diagnose, and treat eye ailments.

To ensure the Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital meets international standards and delivers high-quality care, the TY Foundation spared no effort in procuring the best available
equipment from leading ophthalmic equipment manufacturers. The incorporation of cutting-edge technology in the setting up of the facility, as well as advanced diagnostic tools
and state of the art’s surgical equipment, is pivotal in guaranteeing precise and effective treatments of every patient that will be attended to at the DDEH.
