The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) in Ondo State has recently been the beneficiary of a generous donation from retired Lieutenant General T.Y. Danjuma. The amount of $500,000 has been allocated to support the development of the Olu Akinkugbe Faculty of Pharmacy. This significant contribution is aimed at enhancing the infrastructure necessary for the commencement of undergraduate pharmacy studies at the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor of UNIMED, Professor Adesegun Fatusi, confirmed that the funds will be instrumental in completing and commissioning the faculty’s building by the end of the year, with plans to launch the Doctor of Pharmacy program in October 2024. This philanthropic gesture aligns with General Danjuma’s ongoing commitment to education and healthcare, as evidenced by the work of the Foundation in providing grants to non-governmental organizations across Nigeria.
