For the fourth year in a row, the TY Danjuma Foundation (TYDF) has partnered with Channels Television on the Channels International Kids Cup; a football competition organised initially for primary schools across Nigeria but now expanded to Africa, to promote quality education through sports. The Foundation supports the competition by awarding grants to the top 3 winning schools and providing financial support to the competition’s local organizing committee. The TYDF grant provides funding with which the winning schools can develop critical school infrastructure.

At the finals of 2019 edition of the competition played at the Campus Square Mini Stadium in Lagos on the 27th of May, Samfra School from Lagos beat their Benin Republic counterpart, Ecole Eveil to emerge third place winner and win a prize of N1 Million. Barham Primary school from Rivers state beat Adetunji Primary School from Kwara State with a lone goal to emerge champions and clinch N2 Million prize. Adetunji Primary School took home N1.5 Million for second place.

In the last 3 years, grants given to winning schools have been used to equip computer laboratories, renovate sporting facilities, provide instructional materials, renovate class building, and purchase sports kits.
