The TY Danjuma Foundation (TYDF) has concluded the series of strategic review meetings as part of its mid-term evaluation of the 2022–2027 Strategic Plan.

This midterm review marks a crucial point in the Foundation’s strategic journey, offering a structured chance to assess progress, measure project impact, and ensure ongoing alignment with TYDF’s mission and long-term objectives. It aims to strengthen the effectiveness of the Foundation’s grant-making.

The review assessed progress in achieving the five strategic goals of the Foundation in Healthcare, Education, Humanitarian Response, Responsive Grantmaking, and Research & Learning. Insights gained from these sessions will inform strategic adjustments, enabling the Foundation to address gaps and enhance future grant-making efforts.

The evaluation employed a mixed-methods approach, commencing with a desk review of project documents, followed by review meetings with partners and experts. Participants include current grantees, stakeholders from the health and education sectors, TYDF staff, and members of the TYDF Board of Trustees.

The review findings, as presented by Professor Alice Asim, a member of the TYDF Board of Trustees, indicate strong progress in achieving the goals.

Recommendations for improving the strategic programmes include simplifying grant application and reporting processes, building grantee resilience through contingency planning, providing targeted staff training, enhancing communication via digital repositories and briefs, strengthening long-term recovery after humanitarian emergencies, and expanding community-level data collection using digital tools.

The TY Danjuma Foundation is focused on meeting its strategic goals.  It will integrate the positive feedback from the evaluation to improve its grant-making and strategic partnerships as it continues to support sustainable development across Nigeria.
