The TY Danjuma Foundation (TYDF) is delighted to join the global community in commemorating World Sight Day 2024. As a private independent philanthropic grant-making organisation, the Foundation is committed to addressing the challenges of preventable blindness across Nigeria.

Eye Screening

The theme for World Sight Day 2024, “Children, love your eyes” aligns with the theme of TYDF’s eye health programme – “Vision for a Brighter Future”.  Children are the cornerstone of our future, and their health and development determine the trajectory of our communities, societies, and the world.  The theme emphasises the indispensable role that healthy vision plays in shaping a child’s future.

Visual Acuity Testing for School Pupils

The Nigerian National Blindness and Visual Impairment Survey reports that over 80% of blindness in Nigeria is due to avoidable causes. The report has spurred the commitment of the Foundation to empowering healthcare workers and teachers with the skills to screen, detect, manage or refer eye conditions promptly. The Foundation also supports free comprehensive eye care services ranging from eye screenings, provision of corrective eyeglasses, medications, and diverse eye surgeries like paediatric cataract surgery.

Cataract Excision Surgery

As the world commemorate World Sight Day 2024, TYDF applauds the tireless efforts of healthcare providers, partners, and other actors dedicated to improving eye health in Nigeria. The TY Danjuma Foundation reaffirms its commitment to collaborating with communities, government, and other stakeholders to strengthen eye health services. We are pleased to join hands in building a good vision for our children in anticipation of a brighter future.
